Day 1

We left our house at 3:04 am today and met Aaron at the fire station. He dropped us off at the airport. I wish I had taken a picture of the people in the line. It was all the way to the end of the airport and then doubled all the way back going out the door. I’ve never seen it so crowded. Especially at 4:30 in the morning.

We had been in the airport and on planes for several hours and had several more to go so we took the opportunity to go outside for a minute and take our face masks off. Hate those things.

Flying into Ketchikan. I had an aisle seat so this isn’t a very good pic.

Leaving the airport to catch the ferry across the channel.

Standing on our hotel patio, watching a float plane take off.

Took a walk along the boardwalk after dinner. It’s now 12:30 am (TT) and we started this travel day at 3 am yesterday so we are really tired. Forget plans B and C. I think we’re on about J or K by now. Today included a missed flight, paying more than 5 times the cost of the original ticket to get a seat on another airline, waiting 4 1/2 hours to get that seat, changing hotel rooms because of a broken bed frame, a dinner that was completely inedible, and numerous other things that you just have to laugh about or you would be miserable. Besides, look at that scenery and tell me it’s not worth it. Amazing!!!

  2. Was the flight missed because of connections? Or because of lines?

    1. Alas it was connections. I was afraid the line was going to get us but it didn’t.
